Week 27
A Christmas Miracle!!! 12-26-18
Alright first off, my p-day was switched to today so don't worry no rules are being broken! And second, MERRY LATE CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and kept in mind the real reason for the season!
So, last Monday we ended up having a lesson at 10 in the morning so we stopped our p-day and went to that. It was with Hermano Chavez and he seemed to be doing alright. Better than the first time. Then we went to the Flowery Branch Elders and hung out with them for the day. After P-day ended we went to the good old Romeros house for dinner and I shared an origami lesson for the first time in Spanish. It ended up alright.
Tuesday was the last district council so that was good but kinda sad. Afterwards all of us(Elders) had lunch at the Taqueria and that was good as always. After that Cuarenta y I went to FedEx to get the English class posters ready to go. After that we went and put them up all over Atlanta highway(mini Mexico). When that was finished we saw the Chavez family again and oh boy was it good we were directed to go. There was a really freaky guy there that kept talking about satanic stuff. So we stayed there until he left and then asked more about him. More on that a little later. Anyways, after we went to visit Lordez and had English class with her. That was good, but the lesson was better! She's going to read from the Book of Momon so that she can find out her questions!! Exciting stuff.
Wednesday started off really early going to all the posters we had put out because....... we put the wrong area code for our phone. So we redid that. After we saw the Chavez family again, and about 15 minutes in that weird guy(Arnold) came in again but this time with two more people. As we were talking to the kids onw of them started to do a weird chanting thing to the baby so Elder Cuarenta got up to stop it and Arnold says "anybody who tries to stop her singing is of the devil" and then started to laugh. So that happened. I stayed with the kids and talked with them and Arnold. Arnold kept trying to get me to watch all this anti stuff and it was annoying. It's a good thing we were there when we showed up. Then we had another English class with Lordez and she had read a little but which is progress.
Thursday we tried visiting people in the morning but no one was home so we did the last bit of studies. Then we went to visit Omar and the family but only his dad was home so we talked to him for a while. That was pretty good. Afterwards we went to visit Omar at his work but he was busy so we only talked for like a minute. Then later on we went to the Romeros and had dinner with them again. They played a little game with us and that was pretty fun to.
Friday we didn't do any work because we had an Elders conference that took all day. But it was fun because in the middle of it we stopped and played a couple games if dodgeball! That was a blast. It ended kind of late so we went out to get dinner and President Marsh came in! Haha, he talked with us for a little bit asked how we were doing and such. Asked if we should do dodgeball again and then looked at his watch and said we should probably get headed home. He's such a good mission president. Then we went home.
Saturday was busy. We started weekly planning but that got cut short because the sisters needed someone to jump their car so we put that on pause and tried to help them. We didn't have jumper cables so we called some members and none of them had jumper cables with them. So, we went to one family we knew would have them. The Reyez family! They're a bunch of Hispanic rednecks and absolutely hilarious. So we borrowed their jumper cables and jumped the sisters car. Then we finished up weekly planning got lunch with Flowery Branch. Then later we went to see the Johnson family and that was alright, it's just a different feeling in their house. We can't put our finger on it. Then we went to visit the Chavez family again. Only Nestor was home and he said that he was coming to church! That was exciting. We knew he was kind of worried about not having a white shirt so we went to the store and I used my last &
$10 on two shirts for him. That was pretty fun. Then we saw Maria Garcia and her family and by the end of the night somehow the topic got changed to finding me a Mexican girlfriend. That was awkward and funny.
Sunday was good. At first we were sad because Nestor didn't come. But Omar came! So that was good again. On top of that Lordez came to! She loved it and the branch is showing her a lot of support.
So that's all exciting news. But here's the bigger part.... OMAR PUT HIMSELF ON DATE! The plan is to have him baptized on January 23rd. That was exciting. After church we went to the Garcias and that was good. Then we went to the Reyez home and I got to call my family! That was pretty exciting.
Monday and Tuesday were both pretty good. We visited a whole lot of members pretty much the whole time. And now I'm gonna pay for it cause I think in those two days I gained at least 20 pounds Haha! Everyone called their parents and I just talked with some members for a little while. It was a good time. Transfers also happened aaaand I'm staying in Gainesville! No new companion so for once i wont he getting someone new in a transfer. Good stuff.
Anyways, merry Christmas everyone! I hope everything is well back home and everyone is safe! Love you all!
