Week 14

09-24-18

Well this was mostly an uneventful week.
Monday was a little different than usual. We spent the night with the Elders in Monroe so we went tracting in their area and got them 5 new investigators. It was a completely different atmosphere in their area. Super cool though.

Tuesday we had interviews with President Marsh(why we stayed with the Monroe elders). That ended up lasting until 3 and we got back to our apartment at 3:30. So it was a long time. Always fun though. After that we went back to our area and went tracting. We taught 3 lessons but no one wanted us to come back, so that's a bummer. Then we could feel it was about to rain so we biked back to our apartment and right when we got into the garage it started raining. Nice. By that time it was already 8 and we hadn't had dinner yet so we sat down to eat. Then a sister in our ward stopped by and dropped off tons of groceries!! It was so kind. Lots of bike problems this month meant that our budget was low so it was a huge blessing to have that.

Wednesday we met with the new ward mission leader because the last one asked to be released... oops... anyways, he's so cool. He actually wants to help us so that's really exciting. We went tracting after that and didn't have any success. Then we went to a dinner appointment with the Wallace's, they're super nice. After the dinner we reacted around their neighborhood and met this cool Hispanic guy looking for the true church so we left him with a book of Mormon, too bad he's YSA, we have to pass him off to the Sisters in Athens. We also met this really kind old couple, they just wanted to talk but not about religion so we had a chat with them for a little bit. After that we went home.

Thursday was good. We had the 4 week follow up meeting for the trainees and that was pretty fun. I got to see Elder Chatman again and that's always a fun time. President Marsh just talked to us all for a little bit, we separated and then went on to talk about how we can better help our trainees. After the meeting we went back gave the car to the Sisters and went back to our apartment to finish studies because we had to leave at 7 in the morning. We did a little bit then went tracting for the rest of the day.

Friday was pretty uneventful again, but we met this really nice older couple. They're name is the Perkins! The husband is from England and is really funny and the wife is from Florida. They invited us in then gave is donuts, biscuits and lots of water. We shared a message with them and then talked for a little while. We kept trying to leave but every time we did they would start up a conversation about something else then on our way out the door they followed us, saw our bikes, and talked to us for another 30 minutes about biking. It was quite a bit haha! But they sent us off with some truffles from Holland. So nice. Then we met the three legged dog and went home

Saturday was pretty good but also kind of sad. If you remember from an email a little while back I talked about a guy named Matthew. Well, we went to visit him and his wife opened the door, told us that they didn't want to meet with us anymore handed back the Book of Mormon and then shut the door. Man, that was a heart breaker. The book hadn't even been opened yet. Super sad. So on that note we went to visit someone we had talked to a little while ago, her husband was outside so we just talked with him for a little bit. He said we could come back next Saturday which was really good and exciting. Then we visited a less active and that's where I met Daisy and played with the little baby. The rest of the day was pretty bland until we went to the projects. We got two new investigators in there and that was super exciting. After that we went to visit this family to see how they were doing. They have these two little boys named David and Zane and they are the most hyperactive kids you've ever met. They're so fun. But we talk with their dad for a little bit and shared a bit of a message. He asked us if we had eaten and if we wanted some food. We said no but we were good because his kids don't even really have shoes and we'd feel bad eating their food. But as we continued talked this drunk guy on a bike came up to us and was talking about how his job is to make everybody smile, which is awesome, but he smelled like alcohol sooo bad it just wasn't making me smile haha! He was nice though. After that we went back to the apartment and had dinner.
