Week 4
7-16-18
Fort Yargo Georgia: "The Litter King"
Well it's been a happening week! Monday I flew out to Georgia with all the other Elders and Sisters that were coming here, there were 11 of us total. Turns out when we got here there were 31 elders leaving so that was kinda crazy. This next transfer there are supposed to be something around 26 or 28 people so it's kinda crazy! Anyways, we got into Atlanta around 4 and left to the mission home where we were all told about the mission and some other things that were going to happen. The mission president did some interviews, that ended up going until about 12:30. Lights out in bed is supposed to be at 10:30 haha, thanks president!
The next morning we went to the transfer meeting and met our new companions, my trainer is Elder Roberts and he's pretty chill. We get along well and we both want to work hard so it works out just fine.

On Wednesday we did a full day of biking and ended up almost getting hit by cars a few times, rejected lots, having a good conversation with a guy working on his truck, and getting one maybe two new people interested in the church! Over all a pretty good day. Also there was a district meeting, we have 7 people in our district. Two sisters and another trio of elders.
On Thursday we went biking a ton and did lots of knocking. And lots of almost getting hit by cars. There was this one guy named Canada though, super funny guy. He wants to do a lot in his next few years and he told us all about how he wants to build a suspended garden in his back yard and be on homes and gardens. His legal name is also "Litter King", so hilarious. He also spent 5k building an automated garbage can. He wants to drive it through Canada and America picking up trash for an entire year, "NO DAYS OFF, including holidays". He also wanted to make a business called "Pink Elephant Gutter Cleaner" and have pink elephant cars that would drive around cleaning gutters. He then told us he had that idea while he was smoking weed, makes sense I guess. Oh ya, and he had a song he made up for himself, cause you know, he's the littler king and a king has to have a song! On top of that we talked to a guy who only wanted to argue so we left. And we also biked 20 miles, good stuff on Thursday.
Friday: well, good stuff. We went and tracted around the more ghetto part of our area and that was fun. We haven't biked nearly as much today, only like 6 miles. But we walked another 2 1/2 on top of that. We taught a new lady named Melanie, she's been pretty accepting so far of the Book of Mormon, now we just have to hope and pray she continues reading and asking if it's true. Another fun thing we did was the B of M experiment. We have people read a single page from the Book of Mormon and highlight anything that pertains to Christ. Then we ask them about what they read and how it made them feel, it's been pretty cool! And a member family fed us, super nice of them. Not only did they feed us, but they picked us up so we wouldn't have to ride our bikes on the highway! They don't have bike lanes here so everywhere we go we're riding right next to the road, pretty fun stuff
Saturday: was pretty good. We only did 2 miles of biking because we got the car for today and Sunday so that's pretty nice. Anyways, we drove to the bike store where I had to spend $640 dollars to get a new bike for the next two years (ouch) but it should work well. Unless I get hit by a car cause apparently that happens quite a bit in this mission haha. After that we went to talk to an old guy, he told us a lot. But most of it was about how he got out of being in Vietnam because he destroyed his shoulder in a dirt biking accident and also about how much he hates the government. That was a pretty interesting guy, super nice man though. After that we stopped by an investigators house who wasn't home so we went and tracted around the area. We talked to this awesome guy named Dantez, he believes in God and Christ, and he asked us some questions and to everything he was basically saying that he understood and agreed with what we were saying, so that was awesome! He said we could come back the next Saturday to teach him some more and talk about the book of Mormon, we gave him one and he said he would read it. We're excited to teach him, he's a cool dude who just wants to know more about Christ so we can't wait to teach him more. Other than that we didn't do too much, mostly a lot of driving to get the bike and materials cause we ran out. Afterwards we went to an investigators house but they ended up not being home.
Then we got home and ate dinner at 8. An hour later I was in the bathroom throwing up a lot so I didn't get too much sleep, but that's ok.
Sunday: Sunday was good, we went to ward council meeting and talked about the investigators we have and what we have hopes for. Also, we talked about needs in the ward and such so that was good. Elder Roberts gave a talk and I sat with the investigators who showed up, it was a good meeting. The rest of Sunday was pretty laid back. We helped the bishop go visit some inactive as well as to some sick people. We helped take sacrament to a few members. Then we had comp study. Overall pretty good day.
